    Hello Your software, while being powerful. They have two very basic problems 1: Very poor user interface 2: Very poor training It is better that all your software have a user interface like Ansys software. Your software is really very poor in terms of user interface. And soon one gets tired of working with this boring environment

    Transverse shear stress will be comparable to bending stress in case of short beam length..Right?

      Good question! You're theoretically correct. However, the beam would need to be very short, ~1/4 its depth for a square beam or 1/6 its diameter for a circular beam. At that point, I don't think classical beam theory holds. I think transverse shear has 2 major real-world applications: 1. Failure of anything held together by adhesives, such as composites or beams made by gluing layers together. 2. Cross sections of beams. In particular, I-beams have the web width that they do to resist transverse shear.

    i doubt anyone will ever see this and know what the problem is but when I run the 2023 student edition, I can follow the steps up to the XDB and then when I click apply it says that a folder is named "nul" and this is one of the names that windows doesn't allow and then I cannot analyze the cube. any solution?

      I get that this thing can edit pre-existing/imported geometry pretty well, but I really want to see someone just build a simple object or part in Apex out of primitives (or however you add your own geometry in this program, I'm assuming drag and drop primitives) and then using its direct modeling features to build the part. Is that something that can be done with Apex despite it not being its actual purpose?

      @@arthurparkerhouse537 I have seen some co-workers make complex geometries in Apex. Still, Apex isn't a solid modeling tool and it's not trying to be. I think the geometry tools are simple to use and self-explanatory. If you try Apex, you can get a good sense for what it can do with geometry. Students and professors, can use Apex for free and professionals can try it for a month. The link is in the description. Show me what you come up with!

      @@arthurparkerhouse537 Hi! I had previously answered this question but see that my answer was deleted somehow. It's possible to build complicated geometries (there's a sketcher and ability to extrude or revolve) but it's really not what Apex is built for. I suggest doing a trial and you'll quickly figure what Apex can do in this regard.

    This is indeed what engineers need. In the regular ADAMS it is really painful to optimize the design of a mechanism by going back and forth from ADAMS to the other CAD program.
